    Chabani Manganyi (1960-2024)

    Distinguished academic, scholar, intellectual activist, psychologist, and public servant Professor Noel Chabani Manganyi (DLitt 2008)died on 31 October 2024.

    He was born in the district of Louis Trichardt and after his schooling, studied at the University of South Africa where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962 and received an honours degree in psychology in 1964, a master’s in 1968 and a doctorate in 1970 with a thesis titled “Body Image in Paraplegia”. As part of his doctoral requirements, he held an internship in clinical psychology at Baragwanath Hospital and was appointed as a clinical psychologist, a brev he occupied for three years until he left to take up a post-doctoral fellowship at Yale from 1973 until 1975.
