    Biography

After having worked in the industry for more than 35 years, veteran character actress Carol Ann Susi became best known as one of television's great off-camera characters as the booming voice of meek astrophysicist Howard Wolowitz's overbearing Jewish mother on "The Big Bang Theory" (CBS 2007-). As a yeller-for-hire, Susi even had to attend regular voice therapy sessions at Cedars-Sinai's Outpatient Voice Program to save her vocal instrument. Although her never-fully-seen character on the series was described as a morbidly obese layabout, the pretty, engaging Susi was far removed from her most famous character. Carol Ann Susi died of cancer in Los Angeles at the age of 62 on September 11, 2014.

More than three decades and countless supporting roles later, her level of celebrity was elevated for having provided the röst of recurring off-screen character Mrs. Wolowitz, mother of Howard Wolowitz, on the television series The Big Bang Theory.[3][4][5]
