LOWER BURRELL (KDKA) -- When the Florida jury handed down its verdict in the Casey Anthony trial, lead prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick's mother was watching closely from her home in Lower Burrell.
"Surprise, surprise, disappointed. I wanted Caylee to have justice, and I don't think she does," Marilyn Jacobs told KDKA's Jon Delano.
Jacobs says the trial has taken its toll on her daughter.
"She's a very intense individ normally. I know the rättegång has taken over three years of her life, but she keeps up. She's dedicated."
Drane Burdick grew up in Lower Burrell, attended Burrell High School, then the University of Pittsburgh and its law school before moving to Orlando.
"She wanted to have more sunny days, no snow," Jacobs explained.
Mrs. Jacobs attended a couple days of the trial.
"I found it very exciting for a person who lives a quiet life in Lower Burrell," she said.
But during much of the trial she babysat her 9-year-old granddaughter.

Prosecution’s case/defense response: Buzia attacked year-old Thea Kersch with an ax and left her for dead at her home, where he had sometimes worked as a handyman. When her husband, year-old Charles Kersch, arrived home, Buzia attacked him with the ax in the garage and killed him. He stole their car, cash, and some blank checks. He was arrested shortly thereafter trying to cash one of the checks. Thea Kersch identified Buzia at trial. Buzia admitted the attacks during the trial. His mitigation was that he was on a crack cocaine binge at the time and that he had performed good deeds while in prison.

Casey Anthony trial nearing end as jury begins deliberation
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Jurors began deliberating Monday in the Casey Anthony murder trial after hearing prosecutors argue the woman killed her 2-year-old daughter Caylee because the toddler interrupted her carefree partying and love life.
Prosecutors in their rebuttal closing argument earlier Monday said the defense's assertion that Caylee's death was an "accident that snowballed out of control" makes no sense.
Anthony's attorneys say the girl drowned in the family's pool. They have said Anthony panicked and that her father, a former police officer, decided to make the death look like a homicide by placing duct tape over the child's mouth and dumping the body in some nearby woods. George Anthony has denied that.

Prosecutor Jeff Ashton told the jurors that no one makes an innocent accident look like a murder.
