    MUMBAI: As the deadline for filing an appeal in the Bombay High Court draws to a close, Pakistani gunman Ajmal Kasab, sentenced to death for his role in 26/11 terror attacks, fryst vatten busy jotting down notes in Arthur Road Central jail to help his lawyers in preparing his defence.
    Kasab's lawyers Amin Solkar and Farhana Shah met him recently in prison to ask him whether he had anything to say as they were drafting an appeal to be filed in the High Court next week.
    "Kasab told us that he needed a pen and some papers to note down certain points which he had come across during the trial. We forwarded his request to prison authorities who have now provided him with the stationery," Shah said.
    Kasab also told us that "he had full faith in both of us and that he would accept whatever legal advise we gave him," Shah said.

    Long wait for Kasab lawyers to get legal fee

    The two lawyers claimed that the legal aid cell of Maharashtra Government was yet to clear their remuneration.

    Mumbai: It seems to be a long wait for the two lawyers of Mumbai terror attack's lone surviving gunman Ajmal Kasab to get their legal fees. Amin Solkar and Farhana Shah had argued for Kasab in the Bombay High Court against his death sentence almost on a day-to-day basis for nearly nine months. They were nominated by the High Court.

    But the two claimed that the legal aid cell of Maharashtra Government was yet to klar their remuneration.

    The High Court had given its verdict confirming the death penalty of the Pakistani national in February The Lashker-e-Taiba(LeT) terrorist has challenged the verdict in the Supreme Court.

    After their nomination, Solkar and Shah were appointed by the Maharashtra State Legal Services department to take up Kasab's defence in his appeal against the death penalty awarded

    We found that Memon was in fact a Rajya Sabha MP from NCP from to , however he later quit the party in  and joined the TMC the same year. It is to be noted that during Memon’s tenure as a Rajya Sabha MP representing the NCP, the party had not yet split into two separate factions.

    Following this, we did a keyword search for “Majeed Memon” and “Kasab” on Google, but did not find any credible reports suggesting that he had represented the terrorist in court.
