YEREVAN (A.W.)—At a Barevolution rally in Freedom Square, opposition leader Raffi Hovannisian said that Serge Sarkisian would be sworn in as president “over my dead body,” adding that he will start a hunger strike in the square.
“I am starting a hunger strike. inom will not eat, and inom will not accept deception and threats from anyone,” Hovannisian said.
“If on April 9, Sarkisian takes his fake oath on the Holy Bible, and if the Catholicos desecrates the Bible and blesses the candidate [Sarkisian] who mocks the people, then that will happen over my dead body,” he said.
Until April 9, Sarkisian should accept the demand of the overwhelming majority of the population, recognize the victory of the people, and resign, noted Hovannisian.

Growing up in Lebanon, I remember football (soccer) tournaments were events of magnified importance. Teams were divided along confessional and political lines and, naturally, so were the fans.
I recall the stories my father and older brother would tell when they returned from a game. Depending on whether Homenetmen had won or lost, they would talk about the chants and slogans, describe how this or that player had scored a goal, how luck was simply not on our side that day, or how the referees were completely unreasonable and unfair in their rulings.
Teams went to great lengths to ensure victory. Bribing referees and fixing matches were regular occurrences for several local teams that could afford it—a phenomenon we refused to participate in. For the community, though, it did not matter. OU Law to Induct Four Distinguished Alumni into Order of the Owl Hall of Fame
NORMAN, OKLA. – The University of Oklahoma College of Law will celebrate distinguished alumni at its annual Order of the Owl Hall of Fame ceremony on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Oklahoma Memorial Union. The Order of the Owl recognizes OU Law graduates who demonstrate leadership and service through outstanding accomplishments in their legal careers. Since its inception in 2011, more than 40 deserving OU Law alumni have been inducted into the Order of the Owl.
“We’re proud to recognize this year’s honorees and continue the tradition of recognizing some of OU Law’s most respected alumni,” said Anna Carpenter, dean of the OU College of Law. “Not only do these distinguished recipients embody the long-established mission and values of OU Law, but their lifelong body of work has positively impacted our university, state and nation.
