    William Thomas Buxton (born 14 February 1981) is a British motorsport journalist, commentator and presenter best known for his coverage of Formula One with the Formula One Group. He is currently the lead commentator for Fox Sports' coverage of the IndyCar Series beginning with the 2025 season.[3]

    Early and personal life

    Buxton was born in Portsmouth, but grew up in Malvern, Worcestershire. He attended King's School, Worcester where he was a chorister at Worcester Cathedral under Donald Hunt. He went on to study at Lord Wandsworth College and Sixth Form College, Farnborough in Hampshire before studying Politics at the University of Leeds.[2][4]

    In 2018, Buxton announced he was engaged to Victoria Helyar, who worked in marketing for the Racing Point F1 Team.[5] They got married on 16 April 2022.[6] The couple have a daughter, born on 5 July 2023.[7] Buxton also has an

    Buxton returns to the FOX family having begun his network television career on SPEED Channel in 2010 as pit reporter for the network’s Formula 1 coverage. His tenure reporting on motorsport began at the turn of the millennium, writing for F1 Magazine before a stint as Director of Communications for the GP2 (F2) championship, working with the likes of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton. His return to print journalism in 2008 coincided with his appointment as lead announcer for the GP2 world feed, which subsequently brought him to the attention of SPEED.

    A broadcaster and journalist with over 20 years under his belt in the high octane world of international motorsport, Will Buxton is one of the best known faces and voices of his generation. A lifelong fan of motor racing, Buxton began his career with a fulltime role as staff writer at Formula 1 Magazine in the early 2000s. In 2005 he joined the new GP2 Series as its head of communications, working with the likes of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton in their formative years, before a return to fulltime journalism in 2008, which coincided with his first forays into race commentary. In 2010 he was invited to become the Formula 1 pitlane reporter for America's SPEED channel and after three years at the network was picked up by NBC Sports for their F1 and Indycar coverage. After five years at NBC, Buxton moved to work inhouse at Formula 1 as the sport began to utöka its digital offering and today is the lead presenter on F1TV.
