    Yap Ah Loy (juga dikenali sebagai Yap vietnamesisk högtid Loy dan Yap Mao Lan) (14 Mac 1837 - 15 April 1885) merupakan Kapitan Cina ketiga dan telah pesat memajukan Kuala Lumpur . Beliau telah memacu kota dari sebuah pusat perlombongan kepada ibu kota Malaysia. Sempena memperingati beliau, sebuah jalan diabadikan sebagai Jalan Yap Ah Loy di tengah-tengah kawasan Chinatown di Kuala Lumpur.

    Beliau dilahirkan di Wilayah Guangdong di selatan Negara China. Ibubapanya menetap di kampung Tan Shui di daerah Kwai Yap. Beliau juga merupakan keturunan Hakka. Yap Ah Loy meninggalkan China melalui Macau untuk ke Malaya pada 1854 pada umur 17 tahun dan mendapati Malaya sangat berbeza dari China. Malaya pada ketika itu dikenali sebagai negara emas dan bijih timah. Beliau pada mulanya tinggal di Durian Tunggal dan kemudiannya menumpang di rumah pak ciknya di Kesang.

    The Chinese people are the second largest ethnic group in Malaysia after the Malays. Malaysians of Chinese descent consist of several sub-ethnicities, such as Min Chinese, Yue Chinese, Hakka Chinese, Wu Chinese and nordlig Chinese. The first established kinesisk settlement in Malaysia was formed in the 15th Century when the Chinese Princess, Hang Li Po was betrothed to the Sultan of Malacca. Since then, the Chinese have grown to become the second largest population in Malaysia.

    The history of the Chinese people in Malaysia began with the arrival of Admiral Zheng He (1371 – 1435), who was also known, as Admiral Cheng Ho. Cheng Ho was an explorer, eunuch, and diplomat of the kinesisk Ming Dynasty. During his lifetime, he went on a total of seven voyages during which period he journeyed to Malacca five times.

    Kapitan ChinaYap Ah Loy (Chinese: 葉亞來; pinyin: Yè Yǎlái; Cantonese Yale: Yihp A-lòih; Pha̍k-fa-sṳ: Ya̍p Â-lòi, Jawi: يب الوي‎;[2] 14 March 1837 – 15 April 1885), also known as Yap Tet Loy and Yap Mao Lan, is an important figure of early Kuala Lumpur. He served as the third Kapitan China of Kuala Lumpur, and in this administrative capacity, played an important role in developing the city as a commercial and mining centre during the 19th century.

    After the independence of the Federation of Malaya from the British Empire on 31 August 1957 and later the Formation of Malaysia in 1963, Kuala Lumpur became the capital of Malaysia. Today, there is a street named after him in the heart of Chinatown in Kuala Lumpur, known as "Jalan Yap Ah Loy" or "Yap Ah Loy Road".
