    João Barbosa Rodrigues (June 22, – March 6, ) was considered one of Brazil's greatest botanists, known especially for his work on orchids and palms.[1] For nearly two decades he was director of the Botanic Garden of Rio de Janeiro. Something of a polymath, he was a prolific botanical artist who also made contributions to his country's ethnography, geography, linguistics, zoology, and literature.[1]The standard author is used to indicate this person as the author when citing a botanical name.[2]

    Rodrigues was born on June 22, , in São Gonçalo do Sapucaí,[1] Brazil, and was initially raised in Campanha, in the state of Minas Gerais, before the family returned to Rio dem Janeiro in His father was a Portuguese merchant, and his mother was a Brazilian of Indian descent.[1] He had several siblings: brothers João Baptista and Arthur and sisters Maria and Olymp

    João Ricardo da Silva Coelho Barbosa[1] (born 11 March in Porto, Portugal) is a Portuguese auto racing driver. He currently competes in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for Sean Creech Motorsport in the LMP2 class.[2]

    He was runner-up in the GTS class of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series in and fifth in the DP class in , accumulating a total of seven overall victories. Barbosa won the and , and was third in and and fourth in and Also resulted fourth in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and 12 Hours of Sebring.

    Biography

    Coming from the Formula Europa Boxer title, Barbosa joined PREMA in , ending up second in the Italian Formula 3 Championship. In the following years, he turned his attentions to Endurance racing, becoming one of the most successful drivers in recent American Sportscar Racing history. Barbosa established himself as the most versatile driver of his era for having claimed four Daytona 24 Hours wins over 15 years, with four different rule packages.
