      Biography

      While Elyes Gabel is through and through a British actor, born in London in 1983, he spent a chunk of childhood growing up in Canada. That experience gave him an edge when he returned back to the United Kingdom when he was older, as he studied drama and honed his craft. It wasn't necessarily easy, as his first role after he dropped out of drama school was playing a mummy on the children's TV show "I Love Mummy" (CBBC 2002-03). At that same time, he also appeared on the medical skådespel "Casualty" (BBC One 1986- ), where he played different characters in one-off episodes over a few years. In 2004, he joined the cast full time as Gurpreet "Guppy" Sandhu. It was a role he owned until 2007, when he left the show to explore the world of other television shows and movies. He didn't immediately hit the big time following his departure from "Casualty," as his first film role was in the schlo
