Dmitry Gorodetsky, currently a Los Angeles based musician, was born in Russia, former Soviet Union and moved with his family to the U.S. at the age of 10. His family bought a home in Massachusetts, an hour west of Boston so there was lots of musical inspiration nearby.
He began playing music early on starting with drums at the age of 3 and then exploring piano, gitarr, trumpet and then finally settling on upright and electric bass. Music became the main focus in his life by his teenage years and countless hours were spent on practicing. Dmitry studied with local teachers and was inspired by many jazz musicians from the area. He played his first professional gig at the age of 14 and so began his career as bassist. He played and studied a lot of jazz eventually performing with saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi, drummer Bob Gulotti amongst many others in the Boston jazz scene.
